Snoring and its complications

May 02, 2022

Snoring is a loud sound that occurs when we breathe deeply while sleeping. The relaxed tissue vibrates as the air passes through it, producing this sound. Because everyone snores at some point or another, snoring is never considered a big issue. However, for other people, it becomes severe and occurs every day, disrupting sleep patterns. Other health problems may be linked to snoring.

Snoring can be reduced by altering one's lifestyle patterns, decreasing weight, avoiding alcohol before bedtime, or sleeping on one side.

Chronic snoring, on the other hand, is uncontrollable by these methods. OSA, or obstructive sleep apnea, is linked to some snores. As a result, it's critical to see a doctor for a more thorough examination and treatment. Here is a list of symptoms that should be taken seriously if they are accompanied by snoring and require medical attention –

  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Restless feel even after a 8 hours of sleep
  • Chest pain during sleep
  • Snoring too loud that disturbs partners
  • Choking and gasping during sleep
  • Sore throat while waking up
  • Morning heavy headaches
  • Difficult in memory and concentration
  • Poor attention span among children
  • Behavioural  issues
  • Poor performance by children in school
  • OBA – stops breathing and then suddenly starts again

These are some of the most common symptoms linked with snoring, and you should see a doctor right away to identify and treat any additional issues that may be causing your snoring or attracting other health issues.
